Many people are worried that AI will “take their jobs”
Actually, creating jobs shouldn’t be the end goal. Making high quality goods and services for low prices is.
If Musk paid 1000 people $1m each year to hand sculpt statues of himself, that would technically be making 1000 jobs, but it definitely wouldn’t contribute anything to society. The right way to do things is to eliminate jobs, not the other way around. There are an almost unlimited number of jobs available, especially if you are willing to work for less than minimum wage.
another way to see it is: If your salary goes down by half, but if housing, transportation, food, electronics, entertainment, and medical care prices go down by 90%, then your standard of living still went up by 5x.
I am pleased that the Chinese government has already figured that out, and now they have the best economy on earth, just 46 years after they converted to capitalism. Meanwhile, US politicians still brag about all the (meaningless) jobs they “created”, as though they hate rich people (or perhaps, still living in 1960, when they were born)
